Costa
Rica is a naturalist's paradise. One of the country's best attractions
is the beauty and diversity of the nature. There is an incredible
variety of flora and fauna,
changing ecosystems and climates, and topography. Volcanoes,
lakes, mountains, beaches and jungle combine and contrast within
remarkably short distances, and much can be seen preserved in the
extensive network of national
parks.
As
the country is so small, the great advantage is that much of this
diversity is within reach of the visitor. Many lodges and hotels
are well-positioned close to national parks, or have their own private
reserves, and itineraries can give the visitor the opportunity to
sample completely contrasting ecosystems around the country.
The
best-known magnets attracting visitors are Arenal,
Manuel Antonio, Monteverde,
Corcovado and Tortuguero.
These have varying levels of infrastructure and ease of access. |
